Afternoon Reflections

I recently stayed at a camp that is bordered on two sides by the Linville River and has a nice walking path that goes along the river's edge. I found time to walk this path each day looking for the perfect spot to paint where the light shimmered on the river. The light changes dramatically as the sun goes from east to west throughout the day and highlights different rocks, trees and wildflowers along its path. This painting was created during the early afternoon and the trees were very dark in value.
